1What Is NCB?
NCB is a reward for not making any claims during your policy year. The discount on your renewal premium grows with each claim-free year:
- 1 year — 20% discount
- 2 years — 25% discount
- 3 years — 35% discount
- 4 years — 45% discount
- 5+ years — 50% discount
The discount applies to the own-damage part of the premium, not the Third-Party part.
2NCB Belongs to You, Not the Vehicle
NCB belongs to YOU (the policyholder), not the vehicle. You can transfer it if you buy a new car or switch insurers.
When you sell your old vehicle and buy a new one, you can transfer your accumulated NCB to the new vehicle's policy. You have 3 years from the date of sale to use the NCB. We handle all NCB transfer paperwork for you.
3The 90-Day Rule
If you don't renew within 90 days of expiry, your No Claim Bonus (up to 50% discount) is permanently lost.
Our advice: Renew at least 2 weeks before expiry. We send you renewal reminders so you never miss your date.
4Should You Claim for Small Damage?
One claim usually resets your NCB to zero at the next renewal. For a small repair, the discount you lose can be more than the claim pays.
An example
- Own-damage premium before discount: ₹10,000
- You are on 35% NCB — next year you would get 45%, i.e. ₹4,500 off
- You claim ₹3,000 for a scratch — next year's NCB drops to 0%
- You lose ₹4,500 of discount to gain ₹3,000 — and have to build NCB again from 20%
Before you claim for minor damage, call us — we will work out which way saves you more.
5Protect Your NCB
Made a claim? Don't lose your No Claim Bonus. The NCB Protection add-on keeps your hard-earned discount and saves on renewal premium every year.
